Purpose
Varsity Page exists to celebrate students, teams, clubs and the communities around them, and many of the people featured on it are minors. This Acceptable Use Policy is part of our Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses Varsity Page, whether or not they have an account. School-appropriate standards apply at all times.
What Is Not Allowed
Harm to People
- Harassing, bullying, threatening, intimidating or demeaning any student, coach, staff member, family member, fan or other person.
- Hateful content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or other protected characteristics.
- Content that encourages violence, self-harm or dangerous activities.
- Sharing someone’s private information, such as a home address, phone number, schedule or location, without permission.
Minors and Explicit Content
- Any content that sexualizes, exploits or endangers minors. We report apparent child sexual exploitation to the appropriate authorities.
- Sexually explicit, obscene or graphically violent content.
- Using the Service to contact, track or seek out a student in a way that is unwanted or unsafe.
Impersonation and Misrepresentation
- Pretending to be a school, student, coach, staff member, sponsor or any other person or organization, or misstating your relationship with them.
- Creating accounts with false information, or creating multiple accounts to get around a limit or a restriction.
Contests and Giveaways
- Entering more times than a contest allows, using automation or other people’s accounts to enter, or colluding to influence an outcome.
- Faking, spoofing or otherwise manipulating your location, device or network to pass a venue check.
- Selling, transferring or misusing a claim code or prize contrary to the contest’s Official Rules.
The Service and Its Data
- Scraping, crawling or bulk collecting content or data from the Service, including rosters and student information, without our written permission. Ordinary search-engine indexing that follows our robots rules is allowed.
- Probing, scanning or testing the vulnerability of the Service, bypassing security or access controls, or interfering with the Service or other users, for example with excessive automated requests.
- Uploading malware or any code designed to harm devices or data.
- Using the Service, or anything copied from it, for unsolicited advertising, spam or chain messages, or to build a competing database.
- Trying to make an AI feature produce content that breaks this policy, or using it to obtain information about specific students.
Other People’s Rights and the Law
- Posting content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights, including photos of people who have not agreed to be shared.
- Using the Service for anything illegal, or to promote illegal activity.
Enforcement
We may review content and activity to enforce this policy. If we believe this policy or our Terms have been broken, we may, depending on the seriousness:
- remove or hide content;
- disqualify contest entries;
- warn, suspend or close an account, or restrict access to the Service; and
- report activity to schools, law enforcement or other authorities where appropriate or required by law.
We may act without prior notice when we believe it is needed to protect students, users, schools or the Service. Where appropriate and lawful, we will tell you what action we took and why, and you can ask us to reconsider by emailing support@varsitypage.com.
Reporting a Problem
If you see something that breaks this policy, or content about a student that you believe should be removed, email support@varsitypage.com with a link to the page and a short description. For information that a school published, you can also contact the school directly. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Each version has a version number and effective date, and earlier versions remain available in our legal center.
